Bring Joy to a Senior this Christmas
Each holiday season, we come together with our community to bring a little extra joy to seniors across HRM. For those seniors who may be spending the holidays alone, or who could simply use a reminder that they’re loved, valued and remembered.
Through Stockings for Seniors, Golden Living organizes a community-wide effort that connects generous individuals and businesses (“sponsors”) with nominated seniors. We receive nominations from families, care homes, hospitals, and community members — and then pair each senior with a sponsor who fills a personalized stocking full of thoughtful goodies.
And just before Christmas, our team and volunteers organize deliveries to ensure every nominated senior receives their stocking at their doorstep or residence. It’s a simple act of kindness that makes a big difference — spreading joy, connection, and a sense of belonging throughout the holiday season.
How can you get involved?
Nominate a Senior
If you know a senior (65+) living anywhere in HRM who could use a little extra cheer this holiday season, we’d love to hear from you. Nominations can come from family members, friends, neighbours, care teams, or community organizations. There are no financial requirements — this initiative is open to all seniors who could benefit from a thoughtful surprise and a reminder that they’re cared for.
Sponsor a Stocking
Community members, families, and businesses are invited to sponsor one or more stockings. Once sponsors sign up, we’ll provide a personalized wish list and simple guidelines for filling a stocking with thoughtful items. Sponsors then drop off their completed stockings by the deadline, and our team and volunteers handle the deliveries just before Christmas.
